There are many uses for water pitchers. The obvious to be used for water, lemonade, ice tea, but another idea is to fill it with a nice wine or a nice Sangria with different types of fruits and lots of ice.
Other ideas that you can fill the pitcher the same way you would a trifle bowl, by placing layers of your favorite desert, such as a pudding or Jell-O, with a little whip cream, bananas, or other types of fruits all mixed together.
Or better yet, layer each one on top of the other, starting with the pudding, then the whip cream, then fruits, then back to the pudding, whip cream, etc.. etc… this will make a beautiful looking desert and be the perfect gift to give when you go to someone’s house for dinner and desert. You can get a fancy long spoon so that you can easily scoop the contents from the pitcher when you sit down for desert after dinner.
There are several ways to decorate a glass water pitcher, such as painting the outside. Make the painting based on the season, or holiday, or the colors of your house. This water pitcher can be left out all year round, so instead of it being for a specific holiday, such as Thanksgiving or July Fourth, you could combine your colors of the room in the house that this pitcher will remain.
One idea would be to paint the bottom of the pitcher with a green grass color, then paint long green stems, all different sizes and then paint wild flowers. The reason wild flowers work so well, is because they can be several different colors.
If your room is mostly browns and oranges, your flowers can be browns, oranges, yellows, tans, cream colors, so that they will tie into the room décor. Or if you chose to place it in a kitchen and your motif is grapes, cherry’s, lemons etc… then the best suggestion would be to paint the water pitcher based on this home décor.
Other ideas for the water pitcher would be to simply place flowers inside as you would a vase. You could first put marbles at the base of the pitcher and fill with fake flowers, or fill with water and place real flowers. You should not plant flowers, such as with roots as there would be a possibility that the glass could break as the plant gets larger.
All of the ideas listed here are special ways to make the traditional water pitcher something other than a water pitcher. Enjoy!
